We don't say "gooder" or "badder", ¿verdad? Neither do the Spanish. better = mejor worse = peor older = mayor younger = menor
Now, finish these sentences:
• Soy mejor que..............
• Soy peor que................
• Soy mayor que...............
• Soy menor que.............
Making comparisons:
In English we compare people by usually aadding "er" to the adjective, and using the comparative word "than". In Spanish we also make comaprisons, but we do it differently. You have to think what "er" means. taller = "more tall", right? If you can remember this, you should do OK when making comparisons in Spanish. Instead of using a suffix (er) to make the comparison, we just say "more", which is "más" before the adjective. Then, the comparative word for "than" is "que". So the "formula" to follow is: más + adjective + que
Compare yourself to people you know. Write down these expressions, and complete the sentences. • Soy más inteligente que..............
• Soy más serio(a) que............
• Soy más alto (a) que...................
• Soy más romántico que................
Be able to compare yourself to other people- practice by creating ten of your own sentences comparing yourself to other people. *You can also compare in Spanish the other way- meaning less instead of more. Just use "menos" instead of "más". Are you tall? Is someone taller than you? Then you aer "menos alto (a) que" that person. Get it?
