Abstract: In this article, from a discoursive perspective of language and subject, it is presented part of the recent History of Brazil and it is also discussed the relation between this period and the use of Brazilian songs in the classroom of Brazilian Portuguese as a Foreign Language/Second Language. It is discussed specifically some historical events and its connection (in terms of meaning) with the song “Coração de Estudante”, composed by Milton Nascimento and Wagner Tiso. The main purposes of this work are to raise a reflection and to present for the colleagues all around the world some practical suggestions of how to work in the classroom combining the knowledge on Brazilian Music, History and Language.
